FAQ

Questions, answered.

What clinics ask us most about CureCaster, patient safety, and getting started.

The basics

What is CureCaster?

CureCaster turns your clinicians' expertise into personalized patient journeys. Build custom workflows that combine short, clinician-authored videos with screening, triage, consent and education, guiding each patient to the advice, care and treatment options they need.

What is a workflow?

A step-by-step path a patient follows: videos, questions, consent, screeners, treatment options, and a finish screen. Each answer leads to the next step your clinicians chose.

What is a video prescription?

A short, custom video with a clinician's own advice, clinical pearls, and how-to steps for your clinic, in words patients understand.

Who is CureCaster for?

Clinics, practices and health systems. Clinicians use it to explain things once, well. Practice managers use it to improve outcomes, cut staff time spent answering calls and questions, and close care gaps.

Why video?

Only 12% of U.S. adults have the health literacy to easily navigate care. Patients understand and remember more from a short video than from handouts or face-to-face visits.

AI and patient safety

Does AI talk to our patients?

No. AI doesn't chat with your patients. You do. Patients only see words and videos your clinicians approved, in a deterministic workflow your team signed off on.

Where does CureCaster use AI?

Behind the scenes, to help your team build videos and workflows faster: suggesting next steps, creating scripts, drafting translations, and sometimes narrating in a clinician's voice. Nothing a patient sees is generated on the fly.

Will two patients with the same answers get the same next step?

Yes, every time. Our workflows are deterministic and auditable. Each path is one your team chose and can check before it goes live.

What happens if a screener raises a safety concern?

Validated screeners like the PHQ-9 are scored automatically. A safety flag sends the patient to an alert screen that tells them to let their care team know. In EHR workflows, the alert goes back to the chart.

Building workflows

How long does it take to build a workflow?

5 to 30 minutes for workflows built from our templates. Start from a template or describe what you need, then adjust each step.

Who builds it, us or you?

Either. Your team can build it in the app, or our team builds it with you. During our pilot, every workflow is built with board-certified physicians.

Are there templates?

Yes, many: colon cancer screening, depression and postpartum screening (PHQ-9, EPDS), vaccine consent, Medicaid renewal, social needs screening, and more. You can change any of them.

Can we test it before patients see it?

Yes. "Test as patient" shows the workflow on a phone screen exactly as a patient will see it, without saving any answers.

Who can publish a workflow?

Each organization names a clinic administrator who reviews and approves every video and workflow before patients see it. Builders submit a workflow for review, and the clinic admin publishes it. Every published version is saved, so you can go back and edit it when information changes.

Can it use our clinic's branding?

Yes. Add your logo and colors, and CureCaster checks that text stays readable.

Videos and voice

How do clinicians record their videos?

Right in the app, on a phone or laptop, in just a few minutes. Clinicians can read the whole script, and AI brings the audio up to studio quality. If they're busy or camera-shy, they can make a voice clone to read their scripts instead. Or your team can choose a professional AI voice.

How does the voice clone work?

A clinician records a short voice sample and gives consent. We use it to narrate their approved scripts, so they don't have to re-record mistakes or read every script.

Do you keep my voice clone?

No. We keep your voice sample, never the clone. A clone is made only to narrate an approved video, and it's deleted after each use.

Where are the videos hosted?

On CureAcademy, our private video site. Unlike other streaming sites, there are no ads and no third-party tracking, so patients can watch without their viewing history being tracked or sold to advertisers.

Languages

Which languages do you support?

Workflows are available in 50+ languages. Contact us about the language you need, and we'll work to make it happen.

Who checks the translations?

AI drafts each translation. You invite a translator to review every line before that language can go live. Validated screeners use their official translations where they exist.

Do right-to-left languages work?

Yes. Arabic, Urdu and Pashto read right to left, with the right fonts.

Patients and your EHR

How do patients get the workflow?

By link, QR code, or inside your EHR. You can text the link from your EHR or patient portal.

Do patients need an app or an account?

No. It opens in their phone's browser. No download, no login.

Does it work with our EHR?

Yes. Send it as a link from any EHR. To open it inside the chart, your IT team adds one short snippet.

Where do the patient's answers go?

Back to your team. With EHR integration, the answers go straight to the EHR page that opened the workflow. Without it, workflows launch by link or QR code, and patients can save a summary on their phone to share with your team.

Privacy and security

Do you store patient names?

No. Patients don't log in, and answers stay on their phone until they finish. Then they go to your team.

Is CureCaster HIPAA compliant?

Our patient-facing app doesn't collect PHI. If your team wants logging and analytics, we can add them in a HIPAA-compliant environment. Ask us about our security, BAAs and HIPAA pricing tiers.

How are staff accounts protected?

Admins sign in with two-factor authentication before they can make changes.

Pricing and pilots

What does it cost?

Your first workflow is free. After that, you pay per workflow. Our goal is a tool that's customizable and cost-effective, with no big platform contract and no obligation.

What does the free workflow include?

One workflow, with up to 5 videos in 2 languages.

How long until we launch?

Building and launching happen on your timeline. It can take a week or a few months, depending on how long your experts and clinicians take to sign off on the workflows and videos.

What is the pilot program?

We're working directly with a small number of clinics as we keep refining the product. During the pilot, you work with board-certified physicians and our AI-powered platform to build, set up and launch your workflows.
